Mass Communication

Mass Communication involves the relay of information on a large scale to the public. This is the form of communication used by the mass media to convey its message orally over the radio, audio-visually through the electronic media such as television, web or the print media through newspapers, advertising etc.

Mass Communication Media

Mass Communication can be classified into several categories function-wise through its Courses that train students on the subject. This form of communication depends on the medium of mass communication. There are several media like the electronic media that has courses on web development, e-news, films, television and radio while the print media has several courses in journalism, advertising etc. We could broadly classify them as follows:

Several private institutions also offer campus certificates and diploma courses or maybe affiliated to the university. The Garware Institute conducts courses at Kalina University Campus that are affiliated to Mumbai University. Among the institutes of repute are the (XIC) Xavier Institute of Communication, Mumbai, a recipient of the Dainik Bhaskar award. XIC conducts diploma courses in Mass communication and Journalism, Public Relations & Corporate Communication, Advertising and Marketing, Film, Television & Digital Video Production and Digital Courses on Journalism include the print media where one is train for job positions like reporters, columnists, copy editors, correspondents and editors. Those wishing to train for media such as radio, television and the web are trained for research, writing, editing on the web while in addition an anchor is also required as a job position in media like television.

Admission Procedure COURSES 2010-2011

For the year 2010-11 with regard to Post Graduate Diploma courses Journalism, Advertising, & Marketing, Public Relations, Film Television & Digital Video Production begin on, 1 July 2010. Online Entrance Tests are available only for courses on Journalism, Public Relations & Film Television, Advertising & Marketing as well as Digital Video Production. Mass Communication Colleges in Delhi

Courses for post graduation, graduation and diploma are offered in various colleges. Some of them are St. Stephen's College, Delhi School of Communication, Indian Institute of Communication. The courses offered in the colleges cater to the media industry that requires professionals who are bachelors of mass communication or who hold diplomas in mass communication.
