Diploma Courses are very popular in rural India and with student in cities who wish to pursue a vocational course for a professional career after SSC i.e. 10 class or 12 class. A large section of the population in India study in local institutes that offer diplomas in various courses. These are professional diploma courses in finance, banking, administration, technology, management and many more. On completion of the diploma course students are awarded diplomas for a specific profession or vocation. It is lower than the value of a degree but greater in value than a certificate. There are several Diplomas for professional courses in secretarial practice, finance, banking and the like.
Diploma Courses in Finance (Banking)
Students who are appearing for 10+2 are offered international dual degrees from the faculty of Business and Commerce. They can major in finance, banking, marketing and management. Options are provided for 29 colleges in eleven countries.
PG Diplomas are offered for the finance, banking and insurance sector to students viz. Post Graduate Diploma in Banking Operations (PGDBO) and Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning and Relationship Management
(PGDFPRM). Other Program are Post Graduate Diploma in Banking Operations and BFS (Banking & Financial Services) Career Series.
Diploma Courses in Mumbai
Diploma courses in Mumbai after 12 class are available. Courses in fashion designing, hotel management, Part time time courses are very popular among students in Mumbai. Apart from these there are hr courses, correspondence courses as well as post graduate diploma courses. Diploma courses in Mumbai University are available in Computer Management, Computer Application Technology among 52 diploma courses. Increasing demand for Diploma in Computer Courses in the city has led to the rise of several institutes in Mumbai, Pune, and Maharashtra. Besides there are courses in fashion designing, hotel management as well as career courses in IT program like ACCP. Thirty nine courses are available after SSC in Pune e.g. diploma in engineering, general nursing, stenography, pharmacy, social service etc. Maharastra Diploma Courses in Fashion and Textile Designing, Stenography, Pharmaceutical Business Management among twelve courses are available.

Diploma Courses in Delhi
After 10+2 students can avail of the two year diploma course in Production and Post Production, one year course in Radio and Voice Dubbing. Delhi University short term courses offer Camera and Lighting Studies. Correspondence and Distance Education is provided in Diploma Courses for Acting and Modelling.
Short term training courses of less than one year with diploma in Films and TV are provided at RK Films and Media Delhi.
PG Diploma Courses in finance management are popular. Other Diploma Courses in Delhi University at IGNOU are PG Diploma in Management, Journalism andMass Communication, Distance Education, Higher Education, Translation, Rural development, Disaster Management and several others. Diploma courses for law graduates as well as commerce students are available.
Diploma Courses after SSC
Soon after 10 exams students all over the country make use of three months to do short courses in Computers, Interior Design and Decoration. While most students prefer professional courses several try their hand at music and art or dance to see how they fare in the professional career of the entertainment industry. Certificate courses are also popular among students after SSC.
(IGNOU) Indira Gandhi National Open University has opened its doors to 10 passed students with ITI, offering them a IGNOU VIEP diploma in Engineering or if they wish to continue further they could step up three more years to gain a degree in Engineering. At present there are 150 centers of IGNOU VIEP for the purpose of studies in engineering.
