JNU - Jawaharlal Nehru University

JNU - Jawaharlal Nehru University is one of the premier and most reputed universities in Delhi. It is famous as Nehru University or JNU, and is located in New Delhi. This university provides the best study facility for research programmes. The university has become the temple of knowledge as the main vision of this university is to promote higher studies in India. Eventually, the university has become one of the leading universities in the world.

JNU campus is situated away from the humdrum of the city, with a sprawling campus spread over more than 1000 acres of land. The area of university is located in South West Delhi amidst the bushy forest that opens it to the lavish and serene beauty of nature. Jawaharlal Nehru University came into existence in 1969, under the act 53of 1966, enacted by the Parliament of India. G. Parathasarthy got the privilege to be nominated as the first vice-chancellor of the Nehru University. The university was named after India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru simply because he was a great nationalist leader and a pride for every Indian citizen. JNU attracts students from all across the country and abroad and from diverse strata of society as well. It has been offering many courses since its establishment and has consistently been a source of encouragement for the students to think creatively and independently while pursuing their career here.

The university consists of over 550 faculty members and a fairly large number of students selected through different nationwide entrance exams. The faculty members are highly qualified and masters in specific subjects. Every department has different faculties who give theoretical and practical knowledge about the different aspects of a subject. This is in order to enable JNU students to become masters in their respective subjects. Currently, JNU figures at a rank of 183 among the top 200 universities of the world, improving the rating by many points. It has more than 5500 students at present.

The university offers various courses for the graduate and undergraduate students. The university embodies a number of departments including Computer and Systems Sciences, Arts and Aesthetics, Physical Sciences, Sanskrit Studies, Law and Governance, Language, Literature and Culture Studies, Life Sciences, Molecular Medicine, Social Sciences, Bio technology and Information Technology.

The university library is a treasure of books and is regarded as a good centre of knowledge. The library has a nine storey building that contains huge collections of books, journals, newspapers, periodicals, research papers and biographies of eminent persons. JNU Library is the one of most modern and well equipped libraries of the country.

The library even contains important publications and documents of reputed international organizations like WHO, European Agencies, UNESCO and United Nation. It offers modern facilities for students and faculty members. Each floor of the building is associated with different subject(s). JNU offers various diploma courses, certificate courses, and post- graduate courses, Doctor Level (PHD) or Research Courses for the students. But some courses are very popular from Nehru University such as MCA, M.Tech, M.Sc, MCH, M.A in Economics and Politics, M.Phil and PhD, B.A. Honors etc. The university offers foreign language courses in French, German, Korean, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Persian, Modern Arabic and Spanish; if students want to take admission in any JNU programmes then students have to clear the entrance which is held by Jawaharlal Nehru University each year. The university offers part time courses also for the students.

JNU Admission

JNU admission is generally sought by candidates who want to pursue higher studies in a particular discipline. If students want to do further studies from this reputed university then students can apply for the admission. The university offers graduate and post graduate courses for the students. Jawaharlal Nehru University issues the application form usually in the month of February and the entrance test is held in the month of May or June.

JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University) has announced the application forms 2010 for the admission into various programme of the university. Interested students can obtain the prospectus along with application form either by visiting the university personally or by post. JNU admission in a post graduation programme is open for a student having completed his/her graduation degree from a UGC recognized university. Those students who are waiting for final year results can also apply for the JNU entrance test. In the even of clearing the entrance exam the candidates will have to submit all important documents in order to fulfill all JNU admission requirements. If a candidate wants to apply for M A, M Sc, MCA, M Phil /PhD and M Tech/PhD in a humanity or science subject and B.A Honors in a foreign language then they have to clear the relevant entrance exam for the JNU admission.

JNU MCA

JNU is one of the most prestigious universities in the city of Delhi. Jawaharlal Nehru University also offers a chance to the students to pursue its highly respected MCA programme. These days MCA course are very famous among the students, because we see the field of Information Technology growing rapidly worldwide. The JNU MCA course is a very good option for those students who want to pursue their career in Information Technology. The School of Computer & Systems Sciences offers an MCA course for the students. It was founded in 1975. A large of number of students sits for JNU MCA entrance exam every year, but only a few candidates are selected for admission in the MCA program. This is because Jawaharlal Nehru University has limited seats for MCA programme. The university offers placement for the best students. There are large number students that come from other states to appear for MCA entrance exam. Nehru University has recorded 100% placements in IT industry. The university students of MCA courses are placed in some of the best companies like Accenture, Flextronics, Siemens, HP, Parot Systems, GE Caps, IBM, etc.

Interested candidates can obtain MCA application forms from Jawaharlal Nehru University campus. But candidates must have a Bachelor degree with at least 55%marks in graduation level in order to apply for the course. If students are found eligible for taking admission in the MCA course then they are required to clear the entrance exam which is held by the School of Computer Sciences. Moreover, Students can obtain previous year entrance exam papers through Internet and also from the university library. The previous year question papers will certainly help crack the MCA entrance exam. JNU entrance exam syllabus consists of general aptitude questions, math questions of 10+2 or graduation level and graduate level computer science questions. Masters in Computer Application is quite a lucrative course with good job opportunities, so JNU University offers a three year full time course in Master of Computer Application. The syllabus of MCA program covers all the related topics and this course provides the theoretical knowledge as well as practical knowledge in computer science. In short, we can say that JNU MCA programme will not give professional degree but also a successful career in IT industry. Apart from that, this programme helps students enhance their personality and other skills.

JNU PhD

PhD stands for Doctors of Philosophy and it is the highest degree course. Students can do this course after completing their M.Phil. Interested students can take admission in Jawaharlal Nehru University for pursuing a PhD in a number of courses. But students must also need to have M.Phil / M.Tech / MD / MPH degree for taking admission in a PhD programme. Deserving candidates can obtain the JNU PhD forms by hand or by post. The university has limited seats for the PhD programme so students will take the admission only through a written test and a viva-voce examination. Nevertheless, your admission to the university is totally dependant on the corresponding JNU department and its staff members. Jawaharlal Nehru University offers research programme through a number of university departments, known as schools. Some of these are School of Information Technology, School of Biotechnology, School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies, School of Physical Sciences, School of Environmental Sciences, Centre for Molecular Medicine, School of Arts and Aesthetics, Centre for Sanskrit Studies, School of Computer & Systems Sciences, School of International Studies, School of Social Science and Centre for the Study of Law & Governance. JNU PhD admission process starts in the first semester, which is also known as the monsoon semester and begins in July. The winter semester begins in January. JNU Biotechnology

JNU Biotechnology course is one of the famous courses that the university offer to the students of India and abroad. The Biotechnology course offered by JNU is very effective in expanding your knowledge horizon in this technology-driven branch of study. Demand of this course is increasing day by day among the students. If candidates want to enroll themselves in the JNU biotechnology course then they will have to appear in the combined biotechnology entrance examination known as CBEE. The success in this entrance test is a prerequisite for admission in the biotechnology course of Jawaharlal Nehru University. JNU offers a range of courses, such as MSc, M Tech, M Sc in Agriculture and M V Sc in Biotechnology.

If you want to pursue your career in the M.Sc Biotechnology programme then candidates must have a bachelor degree with good marks from a reputed university or institute of higher learning. The subject background necessary for admission includes Physical, Biological, Agricultural, Veterinary & Fishery Sciences, Pharmacy, Engineering/Technology, 4-Years B.S. (Physician Assistant course)or qualification in Medicine (MBBS) or BDS subject with 55%aggregrate marks. The eligibility requirements for M.Sc in agriculture and M.V.Sc in biotechnology courses include a Post Graduation degree with 55% marks from a recognized university JNU biotech entrance exam syllabus is different for the JNU biotechnology courses. Students have to complete the combined entrance examination paper within allowed time, which is 3 hours, for taking admission in JNU biotechnology course. The entrance exam will be divided into two parts and both parts will carry the multiple choice questions for the students. The first part will consist of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology. This part carries 60 questions and every question carry 1 mark for right answer with a deduction of half mark when you choose a wrong answer. The second part comprises of various question from Chemistry, Biology (e.g., Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics and Molecular Biology), Physics and Mathematics. Jawaharlal Nehru University CBEE (Combined Biotechnology Entrance Examination) will be held on 20 May 2010.

JNU Entrance Exam

JNU exams and entrance exams are very tough and highly competitive. Students willing to get enrolled in a university program must go through an entrance exam. This entrance exam will be held in the month of May or June every year. JNU has designed separate exam syllabus for different JNU courses. The university arranges entrance exam papers and course related previous question papers for the JNU students. These old question papers will help you pass the academic exam as well the entrance exam papers. JNU holds CBEE exam papers for the biotechnology course. There are many students who come from other states to appear for the JNU entrance exam. Student can download JNU entrance exam syllabus and course related syllabus. The exam is held in May/ June at Jawaharlal Nehru university campus. After the entrance exam, JNU will conduct the interview in the 1st week of July. Students can obtain all exam papers and entrance exam papers through online from the official website or physically by visiting the university library.

JNU Results

Jawaharlal Nehru University declares the results for most programmes usually in the month of July. Students can check the results in official website but first you have to put your registration number and course code at the relevant places on the site. Before the publication of results JNU will declare the date for the announcement of results in newspaper or official website. Even then student can contact the Controller of Examination for further information and also for the results.
