|A teacher is the sculptor who helps shape the character and destiny of a student. Hence it is expedient that a teacher be well informed not only on her subject/s but also be trained in communication, pedagogy and human development.
B. Ed. Course
The B. Ed Course helps develop the teacher's competency in order to make the experience of 'teacher-learner' more effective in the secondary stages of school. Apart from this knowledge on school management the course also includes evaluation besides teaching skills. It is a two year full time course.
There are several B.Ed colleges all over India, to train teachers e.g. St. Xavier's B.Ed, in Calcutta, Mumbai and Ranchi. The one in Calcutta is W. Bengal's oldest college that is autonomous. In Goa, the Nirmal Institute of Education, apart from one-year B.Ed course also offers The Cambridge International Diploma for Teachers and Trainers.
